Laura Allison, MA, CCC-SLP
Laura received her master's degree in speech-language pathology from Northwestern University. She's been drawn to language in all its forms since childhood—from writing and wordplay to poetry and music. She's been studying language for as long as she can remember and began formally studying speech-language pathology in her first semester of college. She has always loved working with children and is continuously inspired by their imagination and creativity.
While completing her degree she worked at a private daycare where, in addition to caring for kids, she helped plan events such as 'Pirates Day,' 'Nickelodeon Day' and summer carnivals. During her time at Northwestern she completed clinical experiences at Children's Memorial Hospital, The Cleft-Palate Clinic at Shriners Children's Hospital, Chicago Public Schools, and Communication Therapy.
The fun-filled, enthusiastic environment of Communication Therapy was a perfect match. She was thrilled to continue working here as a full-time therapist following graduation. She believes that in order for therapy to be truly successful it has to be both fun and functional. She sees each child as an individual and loves creating new activities that will interest and challenge them.
